Turning a 30-Day Copywriting Series Into 12K+ TikTok Followers
Client: Personal Project
The Results
Background
30 days before Ramadan, I decided to test a simple idea.
Ramadan has always been a moment where people slow down and reflect. At the same time, I noticed something interesting from past years. Engagement on educational content tends to increase. People are more open to learning, building new habits, and improving their skills.
Instead of treating that as just an observation, I treated it as an opportunity.
I wanted to create something that delivers real value while aligning with that mindset shift.
So I committed to a 30-day copywriting series on TikTok. One video per day. No paid products. No upsells. Just free, structured education from zero to portfolio-ready.
Objective
The goal was not just to gain followers.
I focused on three clear outcomes:
- Build authority in the copywriting niche
- Create a structured learning journey for beginners
- Generate inbound interest for future services and products
Secondary goal: Test whether short-form content can guide someone from zero knowledge to taking action.
Initial Strategy
Before posting anything, I spent time thinking about positioning. The biggest mistake I see in educational content is starting too broad or too advanced. People don’t feel like the content is made for them.
So I asked a simple question:
“How do I make someone stop scrolling and instantly feel this is exactly what they need?”
That question shaped the entire series. I decided to focus on:
- A clear starting point: absolute beginner
- A clear outcome: ready to build a portfolio
- A clear path: daily progression
Instead of random tips, I built a structured journey.
Content Structure
The 30-day series was divided into 3 main phases.
Phase 1: Foundation (Day 1–10)
Goal: Remove confusion and build basic understanding
Content focused on:
- What copywriting actually is
- Common misconceptions
- Types of copy (ads, landing pages, emails)
- Basic principles like clarity and attention
Performance Insight
These videos had the highest average watch time early on, around 28% to 35% completion rate.
Reason
Beginners felt the content was accessible and not overwhelming.
Phase 2: Skill Building (Day 11–20)
Goal: Help viewers start practicing
Content focused on:
- Writing hooks
- Breaking down real ads
- Simple frameworks for writing copy
- Common mistakes beginners make
Performance Insight
Engagement started increasing here. Saves increased by around 40%. Comments asking for feedback started appearing.
Reason
This was the point where passive viewers started becoming active learners.
Phase 3: Application (Day 21–30)
Goal: Push viewers toward action
Content focused on:
- How to build a simple portfolio
- Where to find practice projects
- How to approach freelancing
- How to apply for copywriting jobs
Performance Insight
This phase generated the most direct messages. Daily DMs increased by 3x compared to the first 10 days.
Reason
Questions shifted from “what is copywriting?” to “how do I get my first client?” This showed a clear transition from awareness to intent.
Entry Point Strategy
One of the most important parts of this series was the first impression. Instead of using generic hooks, I focused on relatability.
Examples of angles used:
- People who want to make money online but feel lost
- Beginners overwhelmed by too much information
- Individuals who want a skill but don’t know where to start
The goal was not to sound impressive. The goal was to sound relevant.
Consistency and Execution
Posting daily for 30 days was a key factor. Consistency helped in three ways:
- Algorithm signal: Posting every day increased visibility and allowed content to stack.
- Viewer habit: People started expecting the next video. Some even commented asking for the next lesson.
- Learning continuity: Since the content was structured, skipping days would break the flow. Daily posting maintained momentum.
Results After 30 Days
Here are the key metrics from the series:
- Followers: 0 → 12,300+ (Rendered as mock on sidebar)
Total Views Generated
Total impressions generated across the 30 videos.
Best Performing Video
Highest single-video organic traction.
- Average views per video: 12,000 to 25,000
- Average watch time: 6.5 to 9 seconds (for short-form content)
- Save rate: up to 8% on educational posts
- Comments: increased steadily from <10 per post to 100+ on later videos
- Direct messages: increased by 300% in the final 10 days
What Actually Worked
After analyzing the performance, a few things stood out.
1. Clear Learning Path
People stayed because they knew what to expect next. Random content gets attention. Structured content builds trust.
2. Beginner Positioning
I didn’t try to teach everything. I focused on one audience: people starting from zero. This made the content feel more personal and easier to follow.
3. Relatable Hooks
Instead of trying to be clever, I focused on being understood. This increased retention in the first 3 seconds, which directly impacted reach.
4. Action-Oriented Content
Every phase pushed viewers forward. Not just learning, but doing. This is why engagement shifted from views to comments and DMs.
5. Timing with Ramadan
This played a bigger role than expected. Behavior during Ramadan: More late-night scrolling, higher engagement with self-improvement content, increased willingness to learn new skills. The series aligned with that behavior naturally.
Key Takeaways & Final Insight
This case study shows something simple. Growth did not come from complexity. It came from: Clear positioning, Structured content, Consistent execution, Understanding audience mindset. The idea itself was simple. But the way it was structured made the difference.
If I had to repeat this, I would focus even more on: Turning viewers into participants earlier, Adding small challenges or tasks in each video, Building a stronger call to action from day one.
Because the real shift happens when people stop watching and start doing.
